The imperfect forms ήταν and ήτανε have the dated alternatives ήσαν and ήσανε. 1. These vowel-terminated alternative forms are used in informal situations. 2. The second form may be used interchangeably with the first. 3. The present & imperfect forms are homophonic, the alternative imperfect forms can be used where differentiation is necessary.
