The study of Fluid Statics (often called Hydrostatics) is the fundamental examination of the effects of forces upon and behavior of stationary fluids (gases and liquids). Often considered the introductory discipline within the field of Fluid Mechanics, Fluid Statics explores the behavior of stationary fluids through the application of mathematics and physics. Fluid Dynamics is the subsequent study of moving fluids.
