This duty involves developing plans for major disasters, according to the following job performance requirements.


Learning Objectives:[edit | edit source]

Terminal Objective: Given data, develop a comprehensive disaster plan that integrates other agencies' resources, in order to rapidly and effectively mitigate the impact on a community.


Enabling Objectives:

  • Describe the departmental major incident policies and procedures
  • Describe the community physical and geographic characteristics
  • Describe the community deomographics
  • Describe the community target hazards
  • Describe the incident management system
  • Describe the communications system
  • Describe the departmental contractual and mutual-aid agreements
  • Describe the local, state/provincial, and federal regulations and resources.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize a disaster plan
  • Demonstrate familiarity with inter-agency planning and coordination


Terminal Objective: given data (including agency data), develop a comprehensive plan so that the agency operates at a civil disturbance, integrates with other agencies' actions, and provides for the safety and protection of members
