Fibonacci numbers/Simpson formula/Exercise/Solution

The initial case for n=2 is clear because of

f3⋅f1−f22=2⋅1−12=1=(−1)2.

We assume now that the statement is already known for some n and we consider the statement for n+1. This follows from

fn+2fn−fn+12=(fn+fn+1)fn−fn+12=fn2+fn+1fn−fn+12=fn2+fn+1(fn−fn+1)=fn2+fn+1(fn−fn−fn−1)=fn2−fn+1fn−1=(−1)(fn+1fn−1−fn2)=(−1)(−1)n=(−1)n+1
