[edit | edit source]This place is located in the wonderful province of Neuquen. It's in the south-west of Argentina and has high mountains, just like other provinces of this country, for example: Mendoza, Rio Negro, etc. When you arrive at Villa La Angostura, your eyes see one of the most beautiful natural scenes. Near the city there is a ski resort called " Cerro Bayo", which is surrounded by parks and has a unique view to the lake Nahuel Huapi. In winter a lot of people come to this place to enyoy winter holidays and practice snow sports. When you stop to admire the landscape, you can see high mountains, big lakes and green vegetation and also local wildlife such as deers, hares, squirrels, etc. Do you like enjoying your holidays? San Martín de los Andes
[edit | edit source]San Martin de los Andes is one of the most beautiful touristic attractions in Argentina and one of the few which attracts tourists in all seasons.The charm and magic of an unique mountain village San Martin de los Andes is in the middle of forests and lakes in the province of Neuquen (Argentina). It was founded on February 4, 1868, on the shores of Lake Lacar, a very big and wonderful lake .Flour mills and wood were their main economic activity, until in 1937, when the Lanin National Park was founded. Because of that, the business was moved towards tourism. The 70s marked the beginning of purely tourist skyline. Hotels, restaurants, shops and Chapelco Ski Center were built. Today tourism is the main economic activity of San Martin de los Andes. Currently it has 30,000 permanent inhabitants but retains the spirit of having a good coexistence with nature, architectural harmony and healthy living. In winter the weather is very cold, it snows a lot and you can enjoy snow sports. The most important place to practise skiing and snowboarding is “Cerro Chapelco”. It is a winter sports centrewhich attracts Argentinean tourists and also a lot of foreigners. In this place you can taste a cup of the typical and delicious chocolate! In summer the days are warm and sunny but nights are cold. In this season you can enjoy kayaking, trekking, mountain bike riding, rafting, among other activities. You can also visit and enjoy the “Camino de los Siete Lagos” and “Parque Nacional Lanin”, two places that have fantastic and wonderful views in all seasons! The extraordinary beauty of the landscape, the endless activities offered by the mountain combined with the city make this"mountain village" a real holiday program.
The road of the seven lakes
[edit | edit source]This path is one stretch of the National route number forty in the province of Neuquén, Argentina. The stretch links the villages of San Martin de los Andes and Villa La Angostura. It has this name because it crosses seven lakes during the route. It's one hundred and ten kilometers long. The typical characteristics of the region: there are big woods, there are mountains with snow, there are beautiful lakes. This route crosses two National Parks: The Lanin and Nahuel Huapi lakes.There is hill Chapelco,a great ski resort. The lakes are Lacar, Machonico ,Falkner, Villarino, Correntoso and Espejo.You can visit other lakes, take diversion of the main route.They are Hermoso, Traful and Espejo Chico. There is the Cordillera with woods of cypress, coihues and oak trees. There are houses of the rural population. There are sheeps, cows and horses. There are areas for picnics and rides. Villa La Angostura grew a lot. If you go in winter, you can ski in Bayo Hill. If you go in summer you can fish and practice tourism adventure
