[edit | edit source]Glew is a typical small town in the Province of Buenos Aires. It is well known for its art and culture. Founded on October 12 1865, it is only 34km from the Autonomous City. The reason for its name is in honour to the first owner of the lands,Juan Glew, who sells a fraction of his lands to the ¨New¨ Railway Station; currently, the name is Glew Railway Station. The railway line divides the city from North to South; The area located to to the East of the railway line is called ¨New Commercial City¨ and the area to the West is called ¨Old City¨. The first is the shopping area and the second is the art and culture area. The Old City has typical houses and the jewel of the small town, Chapel Santa Ana. The chapel is small and beautiful made of bricks and it houses the famous Raul Soldi´s murals. The story begins when the painter falls in love with the solitary landscape of the area, at the beginning of 1950; he likes the peace and quiet of its streets, its typical old houses and above all the small chapel. The painter observes the walls are blank so he decides to paint eleven frescoes and two oils in which he depicts scenes of the life of Santa Ana, the Mother of Virgin Mary. It takes him 23 summers to finish his work using the Rennaisance technique of fresco. In his paintings appear the common people who live in the place, his family members, the house of the small town founders and the original fauna and flora; Soldi expressed ¨I want to leave a document tied to the biblical poem;the villagers´ lives as well as these objects are recorded on the chapel walls for ever¨.

Tres Arroyos
[edit | edit source]It’s a small city and it belongs to Buenos Aires Province. It’s in the south east. Its streets have a lot of trees. It also has a city centre with very nice shops. There is San Martín Square, there is a big church: Nuestra Señora del Carmen, opposite the square and the City Hall. There are very expensive fields of wheat, sunflower and maize. On the outskirts there is an industrial park and one agricultural high school. It has one College, an extension of La Plata University in Economy and Physical Education. Tres Arroyos is about two hours from the sea. There is a beach, Claromecó; it’s beautiful but it’s windy. It’s a good place for a holiday.
Claromecó
[edit | edit source]I'm from Tres Arroyos and Claromecó (K'laromeko) is our most important beach. The others are Orense and Reta, but I love Claromecó. Claromecó is the Spanish translation of Araucano's language. It means “junquillo” (a native plant) in the water. The beach is very long and very quiet, so a lot of families with children prefer it. Young people love Claromecó too. They can swim, row and play football, rugby and volleyball on the beach. They can also go jet-skiing and water skiing too. You can visit the lighthouse. It's the third highest in the country and people can go up in the afternoon. The panoramic view is fantastic. A lot of fishermen go to the third and fourth “salto of stone”, near the lighthouse, because they can fish a great deal. “The twenty-four hours of the black corvina” takes place during the third weekend of January. It's lovely… at night it's wonderful to see all the lights along the beach. Last January, there were 4895 fishermen. The prizes are very important too (cars, for example). There are many restaurants where I like eating seafood. Claromecó is a beautiful place to go on holiday.
