Engineering Projects/Car Hack

From Wikiversity

Cars made since 1996 have a computer with standard connector to talk to a generic electronic device like a cell phone. The computers in most cars are tuned to eliminate customer complaints, and hardly anyone changes the defaults. Wireless can be activated to allow remote control over engine starting, air conditioning, door locks, windows, and checking data like torque, gas mileage, amount of fuel left, etc. Touch screens can display more than just audio and GPS information. There are wiring harness standards that enable any electronics to be modified at the system level.
