The empennage also known as the tail section, is the tail section of an aircraft. It typically contains a fixed vertical stabilizer or fin, the rudder, the stabilizer, the elevators, as well as other trimming and control devices. It stabilizes the aircraft similar to how a feather does to an arrow.
