Introduction[edit | edit source]

LOONA is an idol group based in South Korea formerly under Blockberry Creative (subsidiary to Polaris Entertainment, the home of Ladies' Code). The group started out in 2016 as a predebut project spanning two years in which a member was introduced each month with a solo promotional EP. In 2018, the project culminated in the final debut that unifies all the members with the EP [++], led by Hi High and favOriTe as the title tracks.

The group's name as familiar to international fans is derived from the leading consonants of its Hangeul counterpart "이달의 소녀". The consonants ㅇㄷㅇㅅㄴ are then rearranged to ㄴㅇㅇㄷㅅ to resemble "LOONA", whose pronunciation reminds of the Latin word luna.
