Jeep is a brand of American automobiles that is owned subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The division is headquartered in Toledo, Ohio. Jeep's current product range consists solely of sport utility vehicles and off-road vehicles. The company actually started in the year 1941, building Willy MB. The Jeep became the primary light 4-wheel-drive vehicle of the United States Army and the Allies during World War II, as well as the postwar period. The first civilian models were produced in 1945.[6] It inspired a number of other light utility vehicles, such as the Land Rover. Many Jeep variants serving similar military and civilian roles have since been designed in other nations.

1940 - 1950[edit | edit source]
Born in the heat of battle, the Go-Anywhere, Do-Anything® Jeep® 4x4 emerged a hero to thousands of Allied soldiers around the world. The equally heroic civilian Jeep vehicles of the 1940s firmly established the Jeep brand as the undisputed leader in 4x4 technology.
1950 - 1960[edit | edit source]
The 1950s saw the rise of the recreation vehicle, as well as engineering superiority. Grass-roots enthusiasts helped launch Jeep® Jamborees and took the original freedom machine to new heights in sales thanks to seven unique models.
1960 - 1970[edit | edit source]
The All-New Jeep® Wagoneer represented unparalleled refinement and innovation. Prestige and individuality ruled the day. The Jeep brand line-up grew to include 14 models - for work, play, recreationand luxuriously capable transportation.
1980 - 1990[edit | edit source]
The All-New Jeep® Cherokee (XJ) introduced helped revolutionize the 4x4 market. The mighty XJ introduced many industry firsts, including: the first compact 4-door SUV, first UniFrame construction,first full-time 4x4 system with shift-on-the-fly capability.
1990 - 2000[edit | edit source]
The All-New 1993 Jeep® Grand Cherokee (ZJ) set a new industry benchmark thanks to its unique balance of on- and off-road capability. The super-capable Wrangler (TJ) with its new coil suspensionwas introduced in 1997. In 1999 the new Grand Cherokee (WJ) was marketed as the most capable SUV ever. Sales soared to 629K units for the decade.
2000 - Todaʏ[edit | edit source]
The radical 2003 Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon was the most capable vehicle ever produced by the Jeep brand. A new four-door Wrangler variant was launched and took the industry by storm. Wrangler Unlimited opened up the world of capability to people who needed the room and utility of four doors. In 2006, Compass and Patriot were the first Jeep vehicles to reach into the small cross-utility segment.

An All-New redesigned 2011 Grand Cherokee was launched to rave reviews and refreshed in 2013 with many new styling cues and a new 3.0L EcoDiesel engine. The All-New 2014 Cherokee replaced the Liberty, promising to redefine the midsize segment. And in 2015, the Jeep brand entered the small SUV market with the Renegade, once again bringing capability and Jeep brand style to a whole new markeʈ[1].

OFF-ROAD DIFFERENTIALS[edit | edit source]
Transferring power to the wheels is one of the most important aspects of 4x4 driving. Jeep® vehicles include either mechanical, electronic, or brake-assisted differentials to help maximize power delivery to your vehicle wheels for increased traction.
FRONT SWAY BAR DISCONNECT SYSTEM[edit | edit source]
This system, standard on the Wrangler Rubicon, lets you automatically disengage the front sway bar when driving under 18 mph in 4 Low mode. The front wheels can then drop and compress for improved articulation.
SKID PLATES[edit | edit source]
Many of our vehicles come standard with stamped steel skid plates. These high-strength steel plates are engineered to help protect your Jeep® Brand vehicle's guts when battling boulders and jagged rocks.
ROCK RAILS[edit | edit source]
Available extra-tough body-mounted rails (aka rock sliders or sill guards) help provide additional protection when off-roading.
BODY-ON-FRAME DESIGN[edit | edit source]
The Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited are built with a frame that is fully boxed for strength, flexibility and durability.
DANA® 44 HEAVY-DUTY SOLID AXLES[edit | edit source]
Durability comes from heavy shafts, stiff housings, large pinion bearings and above-center pinion mountings for smoother, quieter operation. (Front Dana® 44 heavy-duty axle is standard only on the Rubicon. Dana 30 front axle is standard on all other models.)
