Nbtstat is a Windows command-line tool that displays NetBIOS over TCP/IP statistics. These activities will show you how to use the nbtstat command to display local computer NetBIOS names.

To prepare for this activity:

  1. Start your operating system.
  2. Log in if necessary.

Activity 1 - Display Names[edit | edit source]

To display local computer NetBIOS names:

  1. Open a command prompt.
  2. Type nbtstat -n.
  3. Press Enter.
  4. Observe the local computer NetBIOS names.
  5. Close the command prompt to complete this activity.
