From Wikiversity

Prove the following statements concerning the real and imaginary parts of a complex number.

  1. z=Re(z)+Im(z)i.
  2. Re(z+w)=Re(z)+Re(w).
  3. Im(z+w)=Im(z)+Im(w).
  4. For r we have
    Re(rz)=rRe(z) und Im(rz)=rIm(z).
  5. The equation z=Re(z) holds if and only if z and this holds if and only if Im(z)=0.
