The answer $y$ will always be either $y<0$ or $y>0$ depending on the initial value $y(0)$. Since $y(0)=3$ and the requirement that $y>0$ we have $|y|=y$ for $-\mathrm{\infty }<x<\mathrm{\infty }$.
