Affine space/Affine-linear mapping/Remark

From Wikiversity

A mapping

ψ:EF

is affine-linear with linear part φ if and only if the diagram

V×E+Eφ×ψψW×F+F

commutes. For an affine-linear mapping

ψ:EF,

the linear part (assume E)

φ:VW

is uniquely determined. This is because we must have

φ(v)=ψ(P)ψ(P+v)

for an arbitrary point PE. Therefore, we denote the linear part with ψ0. in particular, for two points P,QE, we have

ψ0(PQ)=ψ(P)ψ(Q).
