Obviously, the first step for working in Photoshop is to Create A New File. To do this, click on the file menu and select "New...". You can also use the keyboard shortcut: CTRL+N

New File Dialog[edit | edit source]

Name This box is simply where you enter a title for your image, the default title is "Untitled"

Preset By pressing this drop-down box, you can see a variety of available presets. These include common paper sizes and screen resolutions. You can add custom presets to this menu by pressing the "Save Preset" button to the right of the dialog box.
