2D Animation/Vector Images

The advantage of vector images in comparison to raster images is that they can be

  • edited or changed especially when you want to create a animation for learning resources e.g. in other languages and you want to change the english label in a background image by a german label. All the other content remains the same.
  • especially for moving objects there is a big benefit, that objects can be dragged and dropped instead of merging into one image in the raster format (especially when objects overlap - a disadvantage of raster images).
  • content elements in the vector image can be scaled much better especially when you zoom in with the camera option in Pencil2D. In raster images zooming in creates unwanted effects on the quality of the images due to the rectangular matrix of pixels.</nocinclude>
