This lesson will illustrate the use of lipases, esterases & acylase enzymes in the resolution of enantiomers, and the use of glycosidases & glycosyl transferases in the synthesis of complex carbohydrates.

Aims[edit | edit source]

By the end of this lesson, you should

  1. understand the use of enzymes in resolution of enantiomers
  2. understand the use of glycosidases & glycosyl transferases in synthesis of carbohydrates

Preparation of single enantiomers from racemic mixtures[edit | edit source]

Resolution of meso compounds[edit | edit source]

Irreversible acylation reactions[edit | edit source]
