Talk:Should we not watch pornography?

Restructure the two sections “It is correct to watch pornography” and “It is not correct to watch pornography”[edit source]

The two sections are just a negation of each others and the latter one is like a paraphrase of the talk title. Being just a negation, the arguments for the former one are the same as arguments against the latter one. For less redundancy the two should be merged or a different categorization found. A possible alternative could be the two:

  • Watching pornography is beneficial
  • Watching pornography is harmful

This way it would be a clear distinction. The “arguments against” section of each of the sections would only refer to the benefits/harms (they actually should better be added directly under those benefits/harms, so maybe “arguments against” sections are unnecessary). --Duurdub (discusscontribs) 10:59, 7 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I noticed we already have the section “Is pornography harmful?” as well. So probably the best way would be to
  • Rename “It is correct to watch pornography” to ”Watching pornography is beneficial”
  • Merge everything from “It is not correct to watch pornography” by swapping “arguments for” and “arguments against”
  • Move the “arguments against” to either “Is pornography harmful?” or the resp. benefits it is arguing against
  • Move any items under “arguments for” that aren’t benefits, but rather arguments against harms to the resp. harms under “Is pornography harmful?”

I have mercilessly removed content to bring the debate in line with the established debate format. Someone may want to add what I removed under the proper "Arguments for" and "Arguments against" sections.
Moreover, it is possible to add additional motions, each with its own "Arguments for" and "Arguments against" subsections; these can alternatively be called "Pro" and "Con" for brevity. --Dan Polansky (discusscontribs) 11:27, 7 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
