Fantastic work! Really interesting topic. I thought that maybe inserting some quotes from people, perhaps somebody who was seeking the death penalty or who has a strong opinion on death penalty, could be inserted into your page as a little extra something? I used some on my page if you're interested at all, with a little text both with " _____ " and who the author/person was... all you would need to do is copy and paste my text boxes to your chapter with your own information inserted. --Maddkilby (discusscontribs) 11:59, 19 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Reading your topic development so far was really interesting especially the public opinion of the death penalty. Not as severe as the death penalty, our text book explains that corporal punishments gain immediate compliance but come with multiple negative consequences. Reeve page 106 has some interesting facts about punishers, you may like to read for interest/ or add. Thanks for the informative read, you've completed so much!! --Brynn Courtney (discusscontribs) 10:19, 29 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Found the information on your page very interesting, particularly around wrongful executions and what influence on the opinion have previous experience of being a victim of a crime and fear of crime. --210.185.116.216 (discuss) 02:47, 19 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

This is a really well-done topic. Firstly I would suggest maybe including under see also the link to the Wikipedia page on the death penalty as it provides some areas that may have not been in this topic due to relevancy. I also found it interesting that there is such a disparity in the use of the death penalty in the USA, I was curious however is public opinion reflective of this use and what would be the reason behind that i.e as white people are more in support of the death penalty is the higher death penalty rate in the South due to a higher white population in those areas. --Haylzw (discusscontribs) 09:38, 19 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi! This topic is very interesting and i look forward to reading it when you are done. I found a debate about whether or not we should have the death penalty in Australia, that you may want to add to your external links. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deeBammob9w Hope this helps! Topic development feedback[edit source]

The topic development has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing the chapter plan. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Topic development marks are available via UCLearn. Note that marks are based on what was available before the due date, whereas the comments may also be based on all material available at time of providing this feedback.

Title and sub-title[edit source]

  1. Excellent

User page[edit source]

  1. Created, with description about self and link to book chapter
  2. Used effectively

Social contribution[edit source]

  1. Excellent

Section headings[edit source]

  1. Well developed 2-level heading structure, with meaningful headings

Key points[edit source]

  1. Key points are well developed for each section, with relevant citations.
  2. Overview - probably don't need very general info such as "What is motivation?" - maybe a very brief description with an internal wiki link to a relevant Wikipedia article or book chapter
  3. History - maybe also include culture - i.e., DPM varies over time and across culture, and between individuals. Perhaps combine this section with Contemporary use.
  4. Theories - again, briefly summarise theories with links to further info to allow the section to concentrate on the relevance to DPM. Perhaps move this section to follow the public opinion section - i.e., describe the phenomenon and then explain relevant theory and research.
  5. Are there any longitudinal studies of attitudes/motivations for DP over time. And are there any experimental studies which have attempted to manipulate potential influences of DP attitude/motivation?
  6. US or USA - be consistent
  7. Include in-text interwiki links for the first mention of key terms to relevant Wikipedia articles.
  8. Consider embedding one quiz question per major section rather than having one longer quiz towards the end.

Image[edit source]

  1. Good

  1. Very good.
  2. Make hyperlinks active.
  3. For full APA style:

Overall[edit source]

  2. For additional feedback, see comments below and these copyedits.

Theory[edit source]

  1. Relevant theories are well selected, described, and explained.
  2. I wonder whether they are emotional motivators for supporting (e.g., fear, revenge, schadenfreude) and opposing (e.g., empathy, compassion) the DP.
  3. Did you directly consult Maslow (1943)? If not, this should be a secondary citation.

Written expression[edit source]

  1. Written expression
    1. Overall, the chapter is very well written.
    2. Some paragraphs are overly long (e.g., the last paragraph). Each paragraph should communicate one key idea in three to five sentences.
  2. Learning features
    1. Interwiki links are well used in the Overview, but not subsequently.
    2. Use in-text interwiki links, rather than external links.

    4. Basic use of images.
    5. Good use of tables.
    6. Basic use of feature boxes.
    7. No use of quizzes.

  4. Spelling
    1. Use Australian spelling (e.g., hypothesize vs. hypothesise; behavior vs. behaviour; fulfillment vs. fulfilment).
  5. APA style
    1. Use APA style for Table captions. See example.
    2. Refer to each Table and each Figure at least once within the main text.
    3. Citations are not in full APA style. For example:
      1. Use ampersand (&) inside brackets and "and" outside brackets.
    4. References use correct APA style.
    5. References are not in full APA style. For example:
