  1. Excellent 2-level structure which logically addresses the topic, flows, and meaningfully conveys the content to be covered in each section
  2. Sections which include sub-sections should also include an overview paragraph (which doesn't need a separate heading) before branching into the sub-headings.

Key points[edit source]

  1. Well developed key points for each section, including citations and interiki links
  2. Maybe consider discussing theory/research around kawaii in relation to animals especially young, furry, big-eyed animals etc. Also maybe consider concepts such as zootherapy etc. Good to see coverage of biophilia.
  3. Lots of opportunity to provide examples

Hey, this topic is fascinating and your chapter is shaping up really well! Couple of quick points (sorry got kids distracting me!):

  • Put some key questions or learning objectives in the overview, eg (very rough ideas!) why do we have zoos? what are our emotional responses to zoo visits (main section with theory)? How can understanding emotional responses benefit zoo management? how can zoo visits benefit individuals?
  • Consider removing the defining an emotion section - highlight/apply the biophilia hypothesis as a relevant theory instead
  • Why do we have zoos is a great place to start, sets the scene for why our emotional responses to zoos matter
  • Tie appraisal theory more clearly to the case study and next section - can explain why people have such different experiences
  • The case study is great! could expand with some more of their specific experiences and the different emotions they elicited (and how theory applies), rather than just reflection of overall experience?
  • Broaden-and-build theory - expand on this and apply eg how positive emotions can broaden our attention the the environment to help us absorb the information we are being presented with, and potentially enhance our connection to the animals as well - relevant for education and conservation respectively. Can also apply to the experience of mixed emotions at zoos eg the negative emotions experienced in response to seeing animals in confinement might be "undone" by the positive emotions of joy, wonder etc
  • Consider removing the measurement section, could incorporate main points in the implications for zoo mgmt section if you wanted to keep?
  • Implications for zoo management are great. Would be interesting to also consider benefits of zoo visits for individuals - probably different for kids vs older adults vs. depressed etc?   1. Written expression is excellent, with some minor, but consistent areas for improvement.
  2. Learning features, including interwiki links, tables, images, and quiz questions are well utilised.
  3. Spelling, grammar and proofreading
    1. Check and correct use of ownership apostrophes e.g., individuals -> individual's
    2. Check and correct overuse of semi-colons
  4. APA style
    1. Direct quotes need page numbers.
    2. Use APA style for Table captions
    3. Citations
      1. When there are three or more authors, subsequent citations should use et al. e.g., Smith, Bush and Western (2001) and thereafter cite Smith et al. (2001).
