[edit] Notes

The instructor may wish to assign the reading portion of the assignment to be completed before the lecture, and the questions to be assigned after the lecture. Students will likely need to be able to read resistor color codes and employ Ohm's Law in the lab.

[edit] Solutions

[edit] Ohm's Law

  1. Calculate using ohm's law:
    v = ir
    5 = (2 \times 10^{-3})r
    r = \frac{5}{(2 \times 10^{-3})} = 2.5 k\Omega
  2. Ohm's law is linear. Compare v = ir with y = mx, which is the equation for a line. If r is a constant like m, then y is v and i is x.
