Structure and purpose[edit | edit source]

Wikipedia has "articles", Wikibooks has "articles", and Wikiversity has "resources", the latter being so vaguely defined that it can include student projects, lesson plans, and even original research. This resource resembles the review article used in academia, except that we don't review the cutting edge status of scientific progress, but the status of WMF articles on a topic associated with higher education. Virtually all the information associated with high school and lower division college is available, not only on the internet at large, but also on Wikipedia, Wikibooks, and Wikipedia. Unfortunately, from a pedagogical point of view, the "best" material is available only at a cost, and is designed for use by established colleges and schools. The mission of Wikiversity is to "set education free". An important first step is to consolidate links to OER resources that might make that dream come true.
