I have just started my project and have found that one artist has persisted in catching my attentions. I'm starting to really put my ideas together and I am pretty sure that I already have the piece I want to select for my museum. I'm kind of excited for my selection because so far, no one has picked my artist to present. We'll see what happens :).

I'm starting up my project and I'm really rearing to get going and do better on this one. Hopefully, after really going through Mr. Serra's works I can find a way to bridge a connection and get some kind of link across.

September 12th,2007

Well we've had some really heated discussions about Richard Serra and his pieces and I must admit I am finally starting to see where he's coming from. I was really skeptical at first because I really am opposed to seeing some things like modern art as art. But I can see the connection through his work, and it makes me want to know what he's trying to get through to the viewer. A sense of fear or one of secure comfort when you walk through and experience them? What is he really trying to say?

I'm starting to like the way that my review is coming together. I want to really expose my thoughts of what I captured in my last reflection through the review and see if anyone else thought of this the same way I did. There's still a few things I need to tweak (grammer, run on sentences, etc.) but I'll be sure to work on that when I get home. Right now it's the idea that counts ^_^.

I thought the review today was good, but maybe I liked the other article more simply because it was not a review. To me it seemed to be a bit more of creative writing and storytelling then an honest work. I think that my review of the work barely straddles the line toward the story.

The first podcast I listened to was Episode VIII with the poet and teacher Thadiwe Shiphrah. She spoke about using the dictionary and her body to communicate what she was listening to into poems. When she writes for a performance, she hopes to create a certain sound and melody. She also relies heavily on the musical properties of language. On Lbysn I listened to Episode 20 "DVD Review Show" a podcast review of films that were on DVD that they reviewed themselves. It was funny, and it makes me wonder how the podcast will be with Mr. Anderson.

September 24th,2007

Mr. Anderson was a very good speaker and I appreciated what he did for our class. I didn't understand some of his views though, and those are more political. Mainly that had to do with me not knowing what he was talking about, so I'll definately have to research. The crazy thing was though, his ability to really go in depth with the questions and give us a deeper meaning even if he did so unintentionally.

September 28th,2007

I think I liked this day a lot better, because I wasn't as shy and I got to ask a lot more questions. Even though I had to speak up a bit (I always do...) I still was able to talk directly to him. That, I think, was good. I liked looking at the art gallery yesterday, and seeing some of the photos that I'd never seen before.

October 10th,2007

What a day we had today. I was feeling really frustrated because I was sure that Elizabeth and I had such a great symbol for our project and it just got blown out of the water because of stupid Art store not functioning on the computer. To look for things referring to immortality and mortality, well I guess you'd have to start using synonymous to both of the words. I chose the topic because there is such a defining line between the two topics and I want that to be evident in our museum. That isn't too much to ask is it?

October 11th,2007

I was happy I got to present my extra thing on Venus today! I thought it was a really good thing to bring up since I know lots of people had seen it before. If we can find something like that, can't we find more things on our theme? I personally am NOT abandoning it!

October 25th,2007

That presentation was very disturbing. The birds thing freaked me out so much, how can anyone do that to little birds even if they are dead? I suppose that some of it wasn't so bad, the lace house thing was really cool. I just kinda feel like the information was imposed upon us really fast and I didn't have a clue what was going on...*Shrug* I'm pretty happy with our project so far though.
