This Psalm is an acrostic poem divided into 22 sections containing 176 verses. Each section begins with a letter in the Hebrew alphabet in succession from beginning to end. Each section is divided into 8 verses which also start with that letter of the alphabet. This Psalm is commonly used in Orthodox funeral services, and also used to signify Christ’s death and resurrection. “Alleluia” is inserted in between the verses.
