Ruth Jelley is a researcher focusing on open educational resources (OERs), educational resources provided by publishers, and processes associated with production of educational resources. She is currently working with the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at La Trobe University, Australia. She has a background in editing and publishing (primary and professional & academic) and an interest in electronic publishing as well as accessibility of educational materials.

In 2012 Ruth completed a Master of Communication (Book Publishing) through RMIT University for which she produced a minor thesis "The digitisation of Australian fiction publishing: Are we there yet?". The project took a case-study approach to investigate the progress of electronic publishing among Australian fiction publishers and how legacy publishers were adapting to the new operating environment.
