Plos ONE topic pages

[edit source]

The sentence

For PLOS ONE, you do not need to contact onecalls@plos.org if your article was specifically invited by the editors.

is a bit funny. Perhaps you can make it clearer

Rename to 'Author Guide'

[edit source]

This page is currently linked from the sidebar as the Author Guide. Should it be renamed to reflect this, or should the current system of redirects be maintained? --Spencer Bliven 08:02, 1 February 2016 (PST)

Draft namespace

[edit source]

I like the input box to start a new page with some pre-filled info. I noticed that the page currently gets created in the Draft: namespace. Is the idea that pages should be started in Draft: and then moved to the main namespace upon completion?

Moving the page seems like an extra step that might not be necessary. Up to now we've just been taging pages with Category:PLOS_Computational_Biology_drafts (or Category:PLOS_Genetics_drafts).

Good point, either way should work. The combination of the Category:PLOS_Computational_Biology_drafts and the {{Published}} template should make them sufficiently clear. I also just found template:Topic Page, so have used it to replace Preprint preload. I think an unpublished header template that includes a limited link for submission should also be useful. Import from

[edit source]
See also Wikiversity:Colloquium#Importupload right to bring in PLOS Topic Page review articles

I've finished importing all the content from topicpageswiki.plos.org (previously compbiolwiki.plos.org) over to this site. This is due to:

  • Reducing maintenance issues for extensions - especially VisualEditor and Citoid which are particularly vital for lowering the barrier-to-entry for contributors without extensive wiki experience
  • Reducing manual time overheads for copying content to WP (image uploads and citation template format compatibility)
  • Reducing duplication efforts for formatting templates
  • Enabling easier integration with wikidata

This was based on discussions with @User:Quantum7 and @Daniel Mietchen and the relevant PLOS journals over the last couple of years. T.Shafee(Evo﹠Evo)talk 04:28, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
