Tutorial on the dis-assembly of the Cen-Tech multimeter[edit | edit source]

Tip: Place the multimeter in a container such as a cardboard box before dis-assemble to prevent the loss of small parts.
1. Remove the two screws from the back of the multimeter.
2. If the casing will not come right off, slid a screwdriver underneath the seam and pry it open gently.
3. Once you have removed the back case, you can see the inside of the multimeter. First, remove the 9 volt battery from its leads and take it out.

4. Next, remove the 4 screws from the circuit board.
5. Next, bend back the small plastic tab holding in the circuit board. It is brittle and might break, but it is not a problem if it breaks. The screws hold in he board fine on there own.
6. Lift out the circuit board from the casing.

7. Remove the dial from the casing. Be very careful. There are two tiny ball bearings that you must be careful not to lose. I used a magnet to hold mine.

8. Remove the on/off switch from the casing.

9. To remove the LCD screen, you must bend back the tab that holds it in. It is easy to break, as happened on mine. You must be gentle as this part is necessary to hold in the LCD.

10. Once the tab has been bent back, simply lift out the LCD screen, being careful not to pull the elastomeric strip off.
11. You are finished dis-assembling your Cen-Tech multimeter
