Summary

Description
English: Pectolite
Locality: Millington Quarry (Morris County Crushed Stone County Quarry; Tilcon Quarry), Bernards Township, Somerset County, New Jersey, USA (Locality at mindat.org)
Size: 11.2 x 8.7 x 3.8 cm.
The now closed Millington Quarry is over 100 years old (it opened in 1895). Starting in the late 1970's the quarry reopened and started producing a large number of some of the most interesting and treasured specimens from this incredible Trap Rock quarry. This is one of the most famous Trap Rock quarries in New Jersey and perhaps its greatest claim to fame is its spectacular Pectolite specimens. This particular piece hosts several pale greenish color radiating spherical aggregates of Pectolite measuring up to 1.3 cm across sitting atop which are associated with Pyrite crystals on basalt. Now that the mineralized zone at Millington is finished, you will not see any more of these beautiful specimens on the market anymore. Ex. Brian Kosnar Collection.
