Summary
DescriptionJAK-STAT signaling pathway.jpg
English: When a cytokine binds to a receptor connected to a JAK, receptor subunits dimerize. This brings JAKs connected to each subunit close together, activating a series of phosphorylations by the kinases which activate intracellular signals, in the end leading to phosphorylation of STATs. Activated STATs dimerize and migrate into the nucleus, where they bind to DNA and affect gene transcription.
