Summary
| Description | A young monk walks past my camera, stone faced and without expression. The monks, many of whom are meditating, do not smile or greet anyone during the tak bat merit making ritual, even when receiving alms. Apart from their own getting their rations for the day, the tak bat ritual is supposed to be beneficial to the alms givers as well, as they make merit, or get good karma by feeding the holy men. (Luang Prabang, Laos/ Lao PDR, April 2014) |
