Hi everyone my name is Monica and I am a part-time student at the University of Canberra. I work full time and am the mother of three awesome young adults. I am in a very happy relationship with my partner and am loving my studies.

The courses I am currently studying to complete my degree are Learning and Motivation and Emotion.

I am working on a chapter on Emotion suppression

Family

I am very fortunate to a large extended family who are close and supportive of one another. No one in my family has completed studies in Psychology and I am very pleased to be getting closer to successfully completing my degree. My parents are both ageing and I look forward to spending more time with them once my studies are over.

University life

I started my degree part-time in 2010. I have continued to study each year with the exception of one year. It has been a long and at times arduous process but I am very pleased to have been a positive role model for my children. You are never too old to learn and that if you apply yourself you can do 'anything' you set your mind to. I know they will help me celebrate when I complete my degree.

Future aspirations

I am planning on embarking on my own small business and hope to have a counselling room at my home. I also plan on undertaking studies to volunteer with Palliative Care Australia. I have a strong interest in grief and supporting others through the process of death and dying.
