Hypothesis[edit | edit source]

When it comes to impose authority and leadership in large, voluntary, and consensus oriented communities such as Linux, Drupal, Python or other open source software-development projects, the role of founders is to have final control over the direction of projects, like at the beginnings of Wikipedia did Jimmy Wales or Larry Sanger.

Votes/comments[edit | edit source]

  • Support Although as stated by Reagle (2006) and others the term benevolent dictator applied to Wales is common in Wikipedia but he and many others prefer the concept of constitutional monarch. --Esenabre 14:41, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
