Research purposes [edit]
Research involves systematic investigation of phenomena for the purpose of:
- Information gathering and/or
- Exploratory: e.g., discovering, uncovering, exploring
- Descriptive: e.g., summarizing, gathering info, mapping
- Theory testing
- Explanatory: e.g., testing and understanding causal relations
- Predictive: e.g., predict what might happen in various scenarios
