Welcome[edit | edit source]

Welcome to the Wiki rescue manual. We will draw from resources from the New Zealand Urban Search and Rescue environment, which complies with INSARAG (Internation Search and Rescue Advisory Group, part of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) guidelines. The pdf document of this manual is available at this link: http://www.usar.govt.nz/usarwebsite.nsf/Files/NZCDEM-General-Rescue-Manual/$file/NZCDEM-General-Rescue-Manual.pdf. In text form, it is over 200 pages, and the .pdf is about 4mb. The wiki manual will largely follow from it, but where information contained in it is New Zealand specific, this will be made explicit. Hopefully the book will internationalise as more people contribute to it.

None of the contributors to this manual, The Wiki Foundation, The New Zealand Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management nor New Zealand Urban Search and Rescue accepts responsibility for any accident caused by misuse or misinterpretation of information contained in the manual. This manual does not consitute adequate training in an emergency situation.
