Summary

Description
English: This diagram describes politics in the United States, where the vast majority of the funding for media comes from advertising: Government controls everyone else, but especially big business, which effectively controls the media because of their substantial advertising budgets. The media in turn controls the public, which ostensibly controls the government through elections. However, the public cannot protect their interests at the polls, because they cannot get the information needed to do so. The media rarely provides such information, because doing so would likely offend major advertisers. As a result, regulatory capture is rarely exposed, with the result that international business interests have an excessive influence on government policies.
