Abstract

Abstract This session explores how post-pandemic education in Chile has highlighted a persistent issue: the continued use of outdated, lecture-based methods despite the adoption of digital tools. While many institutions shifted to online platforms during the pandemic, the pedagogical approach often remained unchanged, leading to student disengagement and frustration. The objective of this session is to propose an alternative way of using digital resources—Wikimedia Projects—not just as a platform, but as a collaborative, student-centered methodology that may help restore meaning and engagement in learning. Based on our work with teacher education programs in Chile, we have begun introducing Wikipedia as a tool to foster critical thinking, source evaluation, and collaborative authorship. We believe this approach holds potential to help students move from passive consumers to active contributors of knowledge. The session aims to share insights, raise questions, and open a conversation about how open knowledge platforms like Wikipedia could support more contextual, participatory, and engaging forms of learning in a post-Covid educational landscape.
