Lua Question[edit source]

Hello Dave, thanks for your welcome here in Wikiversity! I'm getting an overview about what is possible while moving some pages. Now I want to use Lua to improve the templating. Maybe you could help me with a problem I stumbled across: title.getContent is causing script errors in my test module. The module talk page contains a problem description also. Do I need extended permissions to call most of the methods and properties or are they simply disabled? --Sebschlicht (discusscontribs) 13:31, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

Comments added to the Module talk page. There are no Lua permissions limits I'm aware of. But it is very sensitive on syntax, and not clear on error messages. Try to use a working example and then adjust and keep it working. The more experimenting you do, the more debugging required. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 14:38, 24 May 2014 (UTC)
I tried to do that but period vs. colon got me. Thanks for your active support! --Sebschlicht (discusscontribs) 15:14, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

Existing Target[edit source]

When planning major moves, it's best to involve a custodian. That's where permissions do come in. Custodians can overwrite / delete existing targets. We can also merge histories if necessary. Merging histories is important in order to maintain the BY part of CC-BY-SA licensing. It's not as necessary on a talk page, because each entry is signed. But it is important for content pages to show who contributed. If you need to move a page to a destination that already exists, either post on my talk page or add a custodian request. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 14:46, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

Ah great, my bad I did not search for this! I am aware of very few pages I moved manually. Is it necessary to request a custodian action for these (content) pages or is this just a hint for the future? --Sebschlicht (discusscontribs) 15:14, 24 May 2014 (UTC)
If you moved content pages manually, it would be best for me to merge the histories. Particularly since the project you are working on is intended to be a model MOOC on Wikiversity. Just list the page names here and I'll take care of it, like:

javascript gadgets[edit source]

Hey sebschlicht, there is a list of gadgets ("js - helferlein") that exists on wikiversity In particular the last diff is interesting as jQuery became part of the mediawiki instance and can be used. The only question for us is now how can we access it. I assume this will still need admin access at some point. but it would be nice to figure this out. --Renepick (discusscontribs) 16:12, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
