No Solicitation[edit source]

Wikiversity's mission is to create and host free learning materials and activities. Solicitation for external organizations and websites is not accepted. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 22:38, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

hi Dave Braunschweig. I apologise if I inadvertently did something wrong. I guess you reacted to the fact that I added IT USER SKILLS to all your pages.

I have been developing some material that is over 20 pages long (on a local host) and have been trying to create a wikiversity page and firstly struggled to do it from a blank page and got errors about me been a new account.(I now understand it takes a bit of patience to build the right user profile)

I then tried it via the creation of a link for which I chose one of your pages to create the link and I was successful (but then I made the mistake of afterwards adding to all your pages - creating the impression that I was advertising when in fact I just thought that the content of IT USER SKILLS would be of great value to anyone who landed on one of your pages)

I have an MBA (degree in Accounting) and have created IT USER SKILLS to assist disadvantaged students in Africa to reach the correct decision about how to enter the field of computing - please understand that I really was not advertising for anything. (I used some HYPE words where I was waiting to add more content - my mistake again)

School leavers in South Africa and in the whole of Africa have a particularly torrid time to find jobs after leaving school, and they do not have enough guidance to all the free on-line material that is available, like for instance your pages on wikiversity.

If anything I am guilty in trying to advertise your pages to the a current group of school leavers for which I run a free 2 week basic user skills training program.

I again aplogise for not knowing the rules of editing other's pages and I have reworded a lot of my content (on my localhost) so that it is clear that it is free educational content to guide school leavers on how and where to find the correct free resources that they can study to catch up with the school kids who had the privilege of attending the SWD@Schools program.

I will really appreciate your guidance as you already have the expertise of having successfully published so many pages (and maybe if you feel that my effort is not solicitation but an real effort to create learning material, if you could also consider unblocking my account)}}

Thank you for your response. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but when someone new posts large quantities of content and spams multiple pages with that information, we need to slow down and look more carefully at what you intend to share. Please use Draft:IT User Skills, or perhaps Draft:IT Skills, since what you seem interested in sharing isn't limited to user support. When you add your content, be sure that it is all original. Anything copied from another source other than your own work needs to be referenced. When you are finished editing the page, please let me know and I'll take a look. Perhaps we can move it to main space and share it more widely. Thanks for your understanding. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 00:32, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

Copyrighted Content[edit source]

I appreciate your interest in posting IT User Skills content to Wikiversity, but you cannot contribute any copyrighted content unless you own the content. Most of the content on Draft:IT User Skills was copied from other sources in violation of copyright. The page has been deleted. Before recreating the page, you need to complete some sort of copyright tutorial. There is one available at https://sites.google.com/view/harper-copyright-tutorial/home .

If you want users to view copyrighted content, provide a link to that content. Only post content you have written yourself. If you copy something from Wikipedia, you must provide a reference to the source, or it is a license violation and will be removed. Additional copyright violations will result in your account being blocked. Let me know if you have any questions. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 18:12, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
