something for admins[edit source]

Wikipedia service-learning courses
At IRC #wikiversity-en we've had some discussions of possibly running some kind of training for admin candidates. At Wikiversity, we have a mentoring system for new admins (called "custodians" here). --JWSchmidt 01:43, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

"I'm not too sure how the courses are set out" <-- Wikiversity is new and experimental. I think most of us have been reluctant to say that there is any one way to do things. Personally, I'm not much into structured learning, but other people need structure. I like the idea of "active learning" and trying to have projects for learners that go beyond just reading webpages. I tend to like the idea that Wikiversity learning resources might be "learning projects"....I like the idea that people can learn by forming communities where the group has learning goals and the unifying focus is on wiki webpage editing. "Learn by editing" is a slogan for this approach. Learning groups would use wiki as a tool for constructing a record of their learning paths and these records would be built upon by future editors. "Maybe an example course would be good" <-- I agree. Wikiversity:Featured should be developed. "developers know what to create so courses are in a standardized format" <-- I think we will eventually learn what formats work and become popular. For now there is still room for experimenting, so do not be afraid to do what you think is best. Learning to learn a wiki way. --JWSchmidt 02:22, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Poopy ?![edit source]

Hi! You just crossed my potential vandal radar after deleting (and then replacing) a lot of material on a key page, and inserting some rather weird words on other pages. Just letting you know that you were "investigated" and then found "probably innocent" :-))) Here's something for you to think about as part of your project if you're not familiar with all of WV's extra options yet - all in good humour, hopefully. --McCormack 08:40, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Invitation to university level course on Wikis and Wikipedia[edit source]

Hello,

I have noticed that you have developed nice course material related to Wikipedia. Would you like to contribute to the Wikipedia university level course as well? You may for example add your name to the list of interested course developers, and fact-check the quizzes. Kind regards. Mange01 11:10, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
