Your editing experiments[edit source]

You can continue to participate at Wikiversity and keep other community members from reverting or removing your edits as vandalism by conducting your editing experiments in the sandbox, and in your own user space when you login or create an account. Hi[edit source]

Hi, Businesslawyer. I'm not quite sure why you made those edits, and I've stopped you editing for a couple of hours to help you cool off. You're very welcome to edit at Wikiversity, but please respect other users. Hope to see you around more. --McCormack 11:43, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

  • You can continue editing now, but please take a look at things like Wikiversity guides and policies to see how you can contribute here. I'll also put in a welcome below which contains some useful links for people starting out here. --McCormack 11:56, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Scribblewiki[edit source]

Thanks for your message. However, at this stage I'm not interested in scribblewiki because:

  • "All content is copyright © 2007-2008 by the wiki owner, unless otherwise stated."
  • I think its disingenious to have the site admin being "Jimbo Wales" when its clearly not Jimbo Wales.

-- Jtneill - Talk 11:44, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

FYI, I've shifted the page about scribble wiki to User:Businesslawyer/Scribble Wiki because it seems to be more about an external project than a learning resource (at this stage). If it does develop into a learning resource, feel free to move it back into the mainspace. Sincerely, -- Jtneill - Talk 14:20, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Re:Probationary Custodian[edit source]

Hi, anything is possible :-) Perhaps you would be so kind to make some comments about the above comments ? Some may find your last edits as spamming users. What do you think about this ? Would they be right ? Why not make only a page about the site you make ad for and let the users decide to join it or not. Perhaps you can also add some info on your user page, so others may get to know you more. What are your future plans here and at scribblewiki ? ----Erkan Yilmaz uses the Wikiversity:Chat (try) PS: Tag a learning project with completion status !! 13:52, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, like Erkan says, anything is possible, if you're keen to learn. I've only just been through the probationary process myself. Are you already editing on WikiMedia foundation sites? As far as I can tell, although I don't think there's any hard and fast rules, you'd want to have evidence of at least a couple of thousand edits before getting too serious about applying for adminship, i.e., become a trusted editor on one or more WMF sites first, build up your edit history with good quality contributions, ask lots of questions along the way, etc. At least that's been my strategy, although my goal is more around developing OERs for colleagues and students than custodianship per se. -- Jtneill - Talk 14:44, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Posting across multiple talk pages[edit source]

Hi. I'm sure you meant well, but on the whole it isn't necessary to post the same message onto the talk pages of numerous users. Usually you can't just ask one active custodian about something. --McCormack 15:35, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Custodianship[edit source]

I think it would be great to have a business lawyer around here. While I hope it is not your sole motivation for contributing here, if you would like to eventually be granted custodian status, I recommend you rack up a bunch of edits in such a way that the general consensus is that the edits you have made are useful and contribute positively to Wikiversity. I hope to see you around. --Emesee 20:12, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

unblock[edit source]

What is your college's IP so we can have a look here to see what is going on (why it was blocked and so on ...)? ----Erkan Yilmaz uses the Wikiversity:Chat (try) PS: Tag a learning project with completion status !! 10:11, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
