Abeel, Samantha. My Thirteenth Winter. New York: Orchard Books, 2003.

Summary: In the book, My Thirteenth Winter, Samantha reveals the struggles she had to go through during her childhood due to her learning disability. Many times she felt lonely and afraid of the outside world. Her mom was the biggest influence in her life. She helped Samantha overcome her fears and loneliness. At the end she became a writter and her story is an inspiration to many other people that might be experiencing the same situation.
