Readings, Observations, and Experiences[edit]

Whether for class or my own enjoyment, these are a collection of some of my sources for learning.

  • Williams, Tennessee. A Streetcar Named Desire. New York: Signet, 1986. Print.

The book is about a woman of high class, or so she believes to be. She once had the taste of having everything and is now experiencing the other side of things. She decides to go live with her sister, but the circumstances become to strong for her. She allows the new way of living to overcome her and eventually it gets to her, putting her in the worst situation of her life.

"He acts like an animal, has an animal's habits! Eats like one, moves like one, talks like one! There's something even sub-human-something not quite to the stage of humanity yet! Yes, something - ape-like about him.....Thousands and thousands of years have passed him right by, and there he is - Stanley Kowalksi - survivor of the stone age!" (188).

"I don't think I want to marry you any more....You're not clean enough to bring in the house with my mother" (221).
