  • Crow Dog, Mary. Lokota Woman. New York: Harper Collins, 1990.

Lokota Woman is an autobiography of Mary Crow Dog. She is a Lokota indian, ans she describes in her book how her indians were treated horribaly in South Dekota. She also speaks of her indian tribes that try to find refuge with other tribes because they too were being destroyed by the Americans.

Opresion Msg - Opression is sean in the book through the Americans and indians. Americans stripped indians from their beliefs and rights. Keeped them in reservations.

1) Indians are discriminated, Mary Crow Dog recalls of women who are sterilized without thei consent. 2) he husband can not practice rituals becasue its against the law.

Quotes "I was scared of white people and uneasy in their company, so I did not socialize with them." (56)

"The United States prohinited it. There was to be no Ghost Dance, no Sun Dance, no Indian Religion" (154) Ist- Opression, in no doubt, destroys anything or stops the flourish of anything oppresed.
