Is there an English as a second language course material available for primary/elementary students? (The preceding unsigned comment was added by 125.246.96.130 (talkcontribs) )

An article, English as a second language has been conceived, but English as an Additional Language sits at Wikibooks, appearing complete. You might also browse Category:Language and Literature for other things of interest. CQ 03:44, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Wikiversity article has no content, and the Wikibook is far from complete, but has some useful information. We would love to see someone come up with such a project, however! The Jade Knight 05:36, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

English as a Second Language[edit source]

Hey: had a tough time finding anyone to get back to me in regards to the teaching English as a second language for children course page so I have added a proposed reformating to its talk page. I am rather new to this and hope I'm going about this in the right way any changes to that or suggestions as to how I should go about conducting myself would be greatly appreciated. Italic text== Middle English == We should have a course on Middle English. While I'm not a professional at it by all means, I'm pretty decent. Anyone want to help? Verin Sedai 21:18, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. I can read Middle English, and appreciate it greatly, but I don't know it remotely well enough to teach it. The Jade Knight 13:11, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The history of English spelling[edit source]

There is a long and little known history of reform (including many unsuccessful attempts by eminent historical personages), regression and standardisation in the spelling of the English language, which forms a vital body of knowledge to anyone attempting contemporary spelling reform; but it doesn't seem to appear on any existing syllabus, and many of the relevant materials are out of print and available only in major reference libraries. page rename[edit source]

might this be appropriate as (moved to) Topic:English? --Remi 09:09, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Probably better to merge Topic:English into this page, though the Department of English Literature, etc., may not like that. The Jade Knight 04:30, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moving to the school namespace...[edit source]

What if we moved this into the school namespace as "School:English"? Normally, a page like this would be in the topic namespace - Topic:French. However, this is the English Wikiversity. If discussion does not occur regarding alternatives (even just keep it the same) within about a week, I will go ahead and move it. Emesee 21:14, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think that's a good idea except for the fact that English is actually two departments: Language and Literature. In a sense, this is only half of the School:English. Perhaps we should make a School:English which would be the School of English Language and Literature? This would essentially only contain the two divisions. Thoughts?
