Topic development feedback

[edit source]

The topic development has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus see the general feedback page. Also check the page history for changes made whilst reviewing the plan. If you don't understand the feedback or would like further information, get in touch to discuss. Marks are available via UCLearn. Marks are based on the latest version before the due date.

  1. Title and subtitle are correctly worded and use sentence casing
  1. Basic, 1-level heading structure – could benefit from further development, perhaps using a 2-level structure (i.e., use subheadings)
  2. The first three headings after the Overview could be combined into a single introductory section
  3. There is no heading focused on sex differences in sexual motivation
  4. Develop closer alignment between sub-title, focus questions, and top-level headings
  1. Promising
  2. An engaging scenario with a relevant image is planned or presented in a feature box at start of the Overview
  3. A promising description of the problem/topic is planned or presented
  4. Simplify/abbreviate the description of the problem/topic. Move detail into subsequent sections.
  5. Use present, rather than future, tense
  6. Develop closer alignment between the sub-title, focus questions, and top-level headings
  1. Promising/partial development
  2. Focus on providing an integrative review of the most relevant theories and research on the topic
  3. Overly broad/comprehensive; not sufficiently focused/targetted on the topic; this often occurs when genAI content is used by a prompter with insufficient background reading and understanding of the topic and/or insufficient revising and rewriting of genAI content
  4. It is unlikely that all planned aspects can be reasonably covered within the book chapter word count, so be selective and concentrate on the most important aspects which address the question in the sub-title
  5. Avoid providing too much background information. Aim to briefly summarise general concepts and provide internal links to relevant book chapters and/or Wikipedia pages for further information. Focus most of the chapter on directly answering the core question(s) posed by the chapter sub-title.
  6. Conclusion hasn't been developed
  7. What are the practical, take-home messages? (address the focus questions)
  1. Relevant figure(s) are presented and captioned
  2. Cite each figure at least once in the main text using APA style (e.g., see Figure 1)
  3. Well done on creating and uploading your own image! —this can also be listed on your user page as a social contribution
  1. Add in-text interwiki links for first mention of key terms to Wikipedia and/or book chapters (see Tutorial 2)
  2. Consider incorporating additional scenarios, examples, or case studies to illustrate key concepts. These could build on the Overview scenario or introduce new real-world situations in the main body of the chapter to demonstrate how the concepts apply in practice.
  3. Promising use of quiz question(s)
  4. Place each quiz question in the most relevant section
  5. Focus the quiz question(s) on the take-home messages
  6. Also consider using table(s) to summarise key information
  1. Good
  2. What are the most relevant systematic reviews/meta-analyses about this topic?
  3. Move non-peer-reviewed sources to the external links section
  4. Check and correct APA referencing style:
    1. capitalisation
    2. make doi hyperlinks active (i.e., clickable)
  1. See also
    1. Excellent
  2. External links
    1. Excellent
    2. Use sentence casing
    3. Use alphabetical order
  1. Used effectively
  2. Description about self provided
  3. Consider linking to your eportfolio page and/or any other professional online profile or resume such as LinkedIn. This is not required, but it can be useful to interlink your professional networks.
  4. A link to the book chapter is provided
  1. None summarised on user page with direct link(s) to evidence (see Tutorial 2). Looking ahead to the book chapter, see social contributions.
