Suggestion[edit source]

Hi, This book chapter from a previous year may be useful to add in your see also section. Motivation and emotion/Book/2013/Green exercise and emotion --B.L.Appleby (discusscontribs) 05:40, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Heading casing[edit source]

FYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for lower-cased headings. For example, use:

==Cats and dogs==

rather than

==Cats and Dogs==

Suggestion[edit source]

Hi there, loving this topic! Although I would recommend you use the template that James has provided for the book chapter, all the instructions are in tutorial 1. I also did some research and found this study on emotions and aerobics, it starts on page 70 :) good luck! https://s3.amazonaws.com/academia.edu.documents/44378808/Young_B.W._Piamonte_M.E._Grove_J.R.__Med20160404-29474-ntars3.pdf?AWSAccessKeyId=AKIAIWOWYYGZ2Y53UL3A&Expires=1535779323&Signature=7JJt2ME5Sv7IRBehSRC8O7%2FD87I%3D&response-content-disposition=inline%3B%20filename%3DYoung_B.W._Piamonte_M.E._Grove_J.R._and.pdf#page=70 --U3160212 (discusscontribs) 04:27, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

--Jashankhattra20 (discusscontribs) 22:50, 2 September 2018 (UTC) Hi, Really interesting topic but to make it more interesting, you could add more exercises in it. For example: Does yoga seem to have more positive effect on the body in comparison to other exercises?--Jashankhattra20 (discusscontribs) 22:50, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The topic development has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing the chapter plan. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Topic development marks are available via UCLearn. Note that marks are based on what was available before the due date, whereas the comments may also be based on all material available at time of providing this feedback.

Title, sub-title, TOC[edit source]

  1. Sub-title was incorrect; now fixed

User page[edit source]

  1. Very good

Social contribution[edit source]

  1. None summarised on user page

Section headings[edit source]

  1. OK, but overall, the structure includes too much general info and too little specifically focusing on the core topic - exercise-specific effects on emotion
  2. Some of top-level headings aren't really needed - cover these concepts briefly within the Overview or subsequent sections, with links to dedicated Wikiversity/Wikipedia resources for more info. This will allow the bulk of the structure to be focused on addressing the core topic (the chapter's sub-title). Thus, the key section is currently called: "Benefits of exercises on emotions"

Key points[edit source]

  1. Well developed

Image[edit source]

  1. Very good

References[edit source]

  1. Use APA style

  2. External links - include info about source/destination in brackets after the hyperlink - see example

Title and sub-title[edit source]

  1. There seems to some confusion about where to place the chapter content. The content should be placed Motivation and emotion/Book/2019/Exercise types and emotion. Currently this consists of an incomplete 2018 chapter and some 2019 social contributions (any of which you can keep or drop). However, your 2019 contributions appear to have been added to your user page: User:Cduff297. So, move/merge the Cduff297 content onto the chapter page. On the user page, provide a description about yourself, link to the book chapter, and list of social contributions. For marking purposes, these comments apply to the Cduff297 chapter content.

User page[edit source]

  1. Created, but mixed in with chapter content

Social contribution[edit source]

  1. None summarised with links to evidence

Section headings[edit source]

  1. Basic, 1-level heading structure - could benefit from further development, perhaps using a 2-level structure.

Key points[edit source]

  1. Overview - consider adding focus questions.
  2. Consider including more examples/case studies.
  3. Include APA style citations
  4. Stay focused on the target topic e.g., "Mental illnesses correlation with exercise and emotion" is probably out of scope - instead briefly summarise and link to other relevant chapters and/or Wikipedia articles
  5. Include in-text interwiki links for the first mention of key terms to relevant Wikipedia articles.
  6. Consider embedding one quiz question per major section rather than having one longer quiz towards the end.
  7. Conclusion - There are already chapters about exercise and emotion, so this chapter needs to be targetted at address the question in the sub-title - what is the effect of different types of exercise on emotion?

Image[edit source]

  1. None included

References[edit source]

  1. For full APA style:
    1. Use correct capitalisation
    2. Use correct italicisation
    3. Use the new recommended format for dois - http://blog.apastyle.org/apastyle/2014/07/how-to-use-the-new-doi-format-in-apa-style.html
    4. Do not include issue numbers for journals which are continuously numbered within a volume
    5. Include page numbers

    2. Rename links so that they are more user friendly
    3. Also link to past relevant chapters

Chapter review and feedback[edit source]

This chapter has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing through the chapter. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Chapter marks will be available later via UCLearn Canvas, along with social contribution marks and feedback. Keep an eye on Announcements.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this chapter makes the fundamental error of not address the topic (the question in the sub-title).
  2. This chapter is well under the maximum word count.
  3. Consider addressing previous feedback e.g., adding focus questions to the Overview.
  4. The Overview is promising but focuses on exercise and emotion rather than exercise types and emotion. There is already a chapter on exercise and emotion that should be linked to early on, for readers who would like to know about that.
  5. For additional feedback, see comments below and these copyedits.

Theory[edit source]

  1. There is no need to cover general theory, such as what is emotion? Instead, summarise and provide interwiki links to relevant pages, and focus on the unique topic of this chapter.
  2. There is too much general theoretical material (e.g., about emotion and types of exercise as stand-alone constructs). Instead, summarise and link to further information, to allow this chapter to focus on the specific topic (i.e., the sub-title question).

Research[edit source]

  1. There is insufficient review of research about the effect of different types of exercise on emotion.

Written expression[edit source]

  1. Written expression
    1. The chapter is incomplete, with some sections only consisting of bullet-points.
    2. Some of the bullet-points should have been in full paragraph format.
    3. Use third person perspective rather than first person (e.g., "we") or second person (e.g., "you") perspective.
  2. Layout
    1. Avoid having sections with only one sub-section.
    2. Sections which include sub-sections should also include an introductory paragraph (which doesn't need a separate heading) before branching into the sub-headings.
    3. See earlier comments about heading casing.
  3. Learning features
    1. For numbered lists, use Wikiversity formatting per Tutorial 1.
    2. Adding interwiki links for the first mention of key words would make the text more interactive.
    3. Embedding interwiki links links to related book chapters would help to integrate this chapter into the broader book project.
    4. Basic use of images.
    5. Good use of tables, however the table content doesn't directly address the chapter topic.
    6. Good use of feature boxes.
    7. Basic use of quizzes.
    8. No use of case studies.
  4. Grammar
    1. Check and correct use of affect vs. effect.
    2. Check and correct use of ownership apostrophes (e.g., individuals vs. individual's).
  5. APA style
    1. Numbers under 10 should be written in words (e.g., five); numbers 10 and over should be written in numbers (e.g., 10).
    2. Citations use correct APA style.
    3. References are not in full APA style. For example:
      1. Check and correct use of italicisation.
