Template Use[edit source]

There are numerous templates[1] which link to this page. --mikeu talk 19:47, 8 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Mu301: Not any more. See [2]. It will take a little time for everything to update. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 01:33, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Dave Braunschweig: Thanks, I wasn't sure where the link was in the cascade. I'd say that we should delete rather than soft redirect pages like this. Wikidata is cross-linking the wikipedia page back to an empty resource here. I'm wondering if we should add NOINDEX to {{advise}} or just remove these placeholder pags.
It appears that a number of our imported templates have such localized links. OCLC is not too bad, but perhaps we should should just link to w:OCLC to prevent duplication of a much better developed effort. There's nothing in the local resource that I would consider to be clearly stated learning objectives. --mikeu talk 14:15, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Mu301: I'd say both delete and NOINDEX. Advise is useful for a short period of time (30 days?), but we can bot delete with a message that points to Wikipedia after that. Meanwhile, we should have NOINDEX so those pages are not indexed. I've added {{NOINDEX}} to {{Advise}} and {{Softredirect}}. I'll work on the auto delete, but my plate is getting full right now. If you have time to update OCLC, etc., please do. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 14:34, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Dave Braunschweig: I updated {{OCLC}}, {{Arxiv}}, {{Bibcode}}. I'll review the others. I'd be tempted to delete all these pages after the tl's are udpated to w: pages. (Maybe soft redirect, but I need to find out more about how wikidata works. It looks like some of these cross-links were added manually.) I'm also reviewing {{we}} and {{advise}} what links here. --mikeu talk 15:27, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect[edit source]

This page is in the Wikiversity namespace to avoid having a soft redirect come up as a main space random link. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 01:34, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
