What is a Soap Opera[edit]

a soap opera (coll. "soap"), is a serial drama on tv or radio. It usually contains multiple story lines and features multiple characters. the stories focus on emotional relationships and seem to be very melodramatic. It usually airs in episodic series, this means that new episodes, tie in with the old episode by continuing the story line. One single story can be drawn-out for weeks, months or even years.
