Let ${}M\times N$ be a product set. Show that the equality in the first component is an equivalence relation ${}\sim$ on ${}M\times N$. Show that every equivalence class can be identified with ${}N$, and that the quotient set ${}M\times N/\sim$ can be identified with ${}M$.
