Latin III/Present Subjunctive Lesson 3

New Grammar
[edit | edit source]We've learned how first conjugation verbs change -ā- to -ē- and second conjugation verbs change -ē- to -ea- in the present subjunctive. Third conjugation verbs have their own pattern - they add -a- to the stem. Let's see this with the verb regō (to rule):

Notice how the vowel -a- appears throughout the subjunctive forms? This makes third conjugation quite straightforward once you know the pattern!
